This
1964 VW Notchback Type S was purchased
in the spring of 2004 in Pasadena,
California (which is in Los Angeles
County). It was foundby chance, just
driving through the neighborhood.
The previous owner had the car for
about 5 years. He did a lot of restoration
work and got the car to it's current
condition. The car has been garaged
and is not 100% concours perfect,
but is very nice and receives compliments
every time it is taken out. I haven't
done much to it, other than the regular
maintenance, which has been performed
by Blodgett's Bug Barn, here in San
Bernardino.
After
a bit of research found out that the
Notchback is quite rare in the US
as it was only sold in Canada and
Europe. This Type 3 has an 1835 c.c.
engine with a four speed stick that
runs strong and always gets us where
we're goin'. Overall, there's nothing
really stand-out about the car, except
for the color of the paint, which
is best described as a pale purple-silver
metallic. Basically it's just a real
nice, clean Southern California driver.
