1975 Thing
The
purchase price for this car was $3,205.00
in 1973. People now stop me in parking
lots and have no problem when I give
them a price of $6,500.00, and that
for a car which is over 30 years old.
However I would not sell it. I cannot
listen to the radio while driving, the
Erberspächer gasoline heater is
outright dangerous, (a yearly state
inspection in required in Germany) and
nobody here knows how to repair it.
I called the manufacturer and the young
fellow there did not know what I was
talking about. Now the heater is only
decoration since it is not needed in
sunny South Carolina. The car was carefully
restored and even the dent on the fender,
inside the car, on the driver's side,
was fixed. I found out later that this
is standard and is intended to allow
space for a pedal if the diver sits
on the right hand side in counties as
UK or Australia.
