1966 Type 23 Kombi
The
fire Bus is a Type 23 Kombi. Original
registration F-VW 235, manufactured in
June 1966. The van has a full service
history, incredibly low, provable mileage
and drives like a new Bus. Just look at
those straight sides! It has a 1500cc
single port engine (the original, with
59,000km - that's about 36,500 miles).
Not bad for a 39 year old Bus. It wears
its original paint of fire brigade red,
with the wheels and bumpers in black.
It has still got the sign writing and
crests of KLEIN-WELZHEIM on the cab doors.
The Bus was decommissioned from its long
life in the West German Fire Service at
Klein Welzheim on the 5th of January1988.
It then spent 10 years in Germany with
a collector before arriving in the UK
in 1998.
