Dave's 1967 Swedish Import Panel Van
The
Bus is a 1967 LHD Swedish import panel
van, it started off its life as a tailors
van, being used for ferrying around rolls
of material etc. This was the case until
early in 1998 when it was purchased by
its builder, Mattias Scholz. The van was
totally stripped, and taken back to bare
metal before having the Volvo Saffron
Gold and VW Silver applied. The paint
was then topped off with five coats of
clear lacquer. Wheels are 15" polished
American Eagle 5 spokes. The front beam
has been replaced with an original item,
and dropped using a combination of lowering
spindles and turning the beam. Suspension
on the back end is IRS, and each corner
is equipped with gas adjustable shocks.
The motor was a new Brazilian block 9000km
ago, and has been built as a 1835, and
has a bugpack cam. It runs twin Dellortos,
and has a remote oil filter and cooler,
with an electric fuel pump. Electrics
are 12v, with alternator. The back end
is panelled out, and has a rock "n"
roll bed. There is a CD player with a
pair of 6x9 speakers and a 12" sub
under the rear seat. I bought the van
last summer, but because of personal reasons
it never saw the road much, but I plan
to use it much more this year, keep an
eye at the shows ;o)
