I bought the Beetle when he was almost
completely restored. It's an Oval
window born in the summer of 1955.
The car was sleeping in an shelter
from 1973 until 2002. The previous
owner bought the car in 1999 and restored
him to personal style over 2-3 years.
The whole car was 'stripped' and had
a professional painting. The engine
is built by Leo de rijck, it's a Type
4 2000cc Bus-engine. The whole engine
was revised and a few options were
added. Porsche cooling systems, Weber
40 IDF carb's, Bas exhaust, etc. The
engine was built up to 136 HP. I've
added new rocker shafts,new rocker
arms, and new Remmele valve covers.
A bigger clutch was also needed. With
a Type 4 engine it was advised to
mount a IRS transmission from a 1303
Beetle.
Brake system is from a Porsche 911,
as are the Porsche Fuch wheels. 15''
X 8.5'' in the back and in the 7"
wide in the front. The interior was
replaced with Sparco seats and steering
wheel. Auto-meter equipment was installed
to read the engine oil temp, oil pressure
and RPM. A Gene Berg shifter gears
the Bug up and down !
